The fastest way to build good software for a trade is to learn the trade.

New thread opening up: I'm going to learn commercial-refrigeration gasket fabrication hands-on, and build the field-ops software for it from the inside. The bet is simple: tools built by someone doing the actual work beat tools built from assumptions. I get to be user #1.
